Frequently Asked Questions
What is health coaching?
Health coaching is a supportive, collaborative process that helps you clarify your goals, navigate overwhelming health information, and build habits that feel realistic and sustainable for your life.
With so many opinions, from providers, loved ones, and social media, it can be hard to know what truly works for you. Through one-on-one coaching sessions, we focus on what matters most to you, explore strategies that fit your values and lifestyle, and create simple, achievable steps toward lasting behavior change.
How can health coaching benefit me?
Health coaching can help you feel more clear, supported, and confident as you make changes related to your health and well-being. It offers a space to slow down, reflect, and make sense of what you want—without pressure, judgment, or quick fixes.
Many people find coaching helpful for building consistency, staying accountable, and creating changes that feel aligned with their values and real life.
How do I know I can trust you?
Trust and confidentiality are foundational to my work. I follow strict ethical standards guided by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics, which emphasize respect, privacy, and client autonomy. While health coaching is not therapy, I bring my background as a licensed social worker into how I hold space—prioritizing confidentiality, clear boundaries, and informed consent. Any personal information you share is treated with care and handled in alignment with HIPAA-informed practices. My role is to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and grounded in integrity.
Are you a therapist?
No. I am not a therapist and I do not provide therapy, counseling, diagnosis, or treatment of mental or physical health conditions. I hold a Masters degree in social work and am licensed as a social worker, but my work with clients is strictly non-clinical and coaching-based.
Coaching focuses on support, education, goal-setting, and behavior change. While my background in social work informs how I listen and support clients, it does not replace therapy or medical care.
If at any point it appears that you may benefit from working with a licensed therapist, physician, or other healthcare professional, I will encourage you to seek care from an appropriate provider.
Is health coaching a substitute for medical or mental health care?
No. Health coaching does not replace medical care, mental health treatment, or advice from licensed healthcare providers. Coaching is designed to support your goals and decision-making, not to diagnose or treat conditions.
